Local scores vs tourist scores — side by side
Where locals and tourists disagree about eating in Seoul
We track 352 restaurants across 10 districts and score every one twice: the local verdict (Naver visitor reviews + KakaoMap ratings) and the tourist verdict (Google). The difference is the Gap Score — it finds the tourist traps and the places locals quietly love.

Every count on this site — here, on the index pages, in the meta descriptions, in llms.txt and in the open dataset — is generated from one function over one dataset, and the build fails if any two of them disagree.

Using this before the trip, not during it?
The Gap Score is most useful weeks out, when you are still deciding what to book. These pages turn the data into decisions.

Seoul food tours, measured
What the local scores say about the ground each tour covers — and what we
deliberately do not claim to know.
Every tourist-tilted restaurant, paired with a local alternative
25 tilted rooms, each matched to a nearby restaurant with a narrower gap.
How the Gap Score works
- Local verdict: Naver visitor score (weighted 2×, it has the volume) blended with the KakaoMap star rating.
- Tourist verdict: Google rating, matched to the exact branch by coordinates.
- Gap = tourist − local. We only badge restaurants with 100+ reviews on both sides, so thin data can't headline.
What the badges mean
- Trap alert
gap ≥ +0.45— tourists rate it far above the local consensus - Tourist-tilted
+0.20 ≤ gap < +0.45— a smaller gap, same direction - Aligned
−0.20 < gap < +0.20— both sides broadly agree - Local favorite
−0.45 < gap ≤ −0.20— locals rate it above the visitor consensus - Hidden gem
gap ≤ −0.45— locals rate it far above the visitor consensus
Badges are only awarded at 100+ reviews on both sides. Full methodology →
